Posted by yuwono on Apr 10, '07 12:53 PM for everyone | | Many people say medium format is a lot of better than 35mm. So i gave it a try.
Borrowed Hasselblad 500C/M with 80mm F/2.8 Carl Zeiss Plannar. Kind of different experiences. Bulky but not so heavy. Loud mirror slap. No metering, everything manual and slow to setup. But the other hand, very dependable.. no funny funny respond, what you set is what you get. Filter tread is bayonet mount, so i have to hand-held the 2x ND8 + Gradual ND4 filters. Many light leakage due to this un-proper filter setting.
Only finished two rolls of Illford FP4 ISO125 + 1 roll of Provia ISO100. I developed The FP4 straight away, 8 min dev time @ 20 deg with T-max developer. Scanned with Canonscan 8600F (yes, finally i have the scanner, and it can handle 6x6 format :D ). But provia, it has no choice, has to sit in the Lab, and only weekend will finish the development. :(
So, here it is. Day 1: Changi Broadwalk exposures in the afternoon. As many landscapist do, I also did some burning and dodging, but instead of dark room, it was done digitally. I welcome any comment and input! Thanks!

Posted by yuwono on Jan 13, '07 6:29 AM for everyone | | I went to this place this morning as one of AG outing, Singapore. It was heavy overcast day.. But the place was great. The coast has "enough" wave (if you find boat passes by of course). Scene, rock, trees were perfect, but stupidly i didn't bring my tripod with me... Sigh! This place, definitely, need to be re-visited. |
Posted by yuwono on Jan 6, '07 4:26 PM for everyone | | So, this time, me and master of zenscape Wellington and also Kiki went together to this place. We got plenty of time actually before the sun sets. But unfortunatelly the tide was too low, so we could not play so much of our slow speed "kung fu". However, here is some of my take. Hopefully there are some pics that still can be enjoy. |
Posted by yuwono on Jan 3, '07 10:05 AM for everyone | | sea, white sand, cloud, rock and platforms. Seeing horizon, is never to invinity here in Singapore... even if you are at the beach... And i took this pictures.... It was cloudy late afternoon... as my son never hide his excitement, playing with the sand. And he refused to go home, until I pack one full plastic bag of it for him... |
Posted by yuwono on Dec 21, '06 8:57 AM for everyone | | Sunset at Siloso Beach, Sentosa Island, Singapore This second attempt on slow shutter photography took place in Siloso beach, Sentosa Island, Singapore. Actually it is not exactly in Siloso, but I need to walk roughly 150m toward west from the beach, just behind Sentosa Resort. I was lucky to found a "lonely" cloud during this sunset shots. |
Posted by yuwono on Dec 21, '06 8:55 AM for everyone | | Sunset at Labrador Park, Singapore Inspired by the work of Wellington, my FN Singapore's buddy, I tried this low speed seascape shots. I feel that in order the effect works, the composistion of the picture must be strong.
A lot of master out there that their work based on this kind of technique. Ranging from Michael Kenna, Josef Hoflehner, David Fokos, Rolfe Horn, Michael Levin, etc.
They have many philosophy behind their shots, but bassically, with slow speed, what they want to achieve is to represent the scene in the "fundamental" and "basic" form. Also to remove "noise" which affect our interpretation of nature in high / normal speed pictures.
Whatever.... :) to me... it is a good way to practice my composition on photography. |
