Posted by yuwono on Jul 31, '08 11:41 AM for everyone |  | Sometime when I'm desperate, run out of B&W film in the middle of photo shot, then I just buy whatever film available in the nearest store. So, here it comes Kodakcolor Gold 400 (pic#1-#12) and Kodak Elitechrome 100, 2004 expired (pic#13 - #21).
I think, I'm okay with color negative, but the slide are total disaster. I'm not sure, is this the nature of this particular model of slide or because it's expired. From the 8-bit histogram of scanned file, I only see 50% of it filled with information, exactly in the middle. Really poor dynamic range, gosh... and hate those purple tint... I have to try another slide someday.

Posted by yuwono on Jul 8, '08 10:19 AM for everyone | | Two friends (bayu and Igor) were having birthday and I'm invited for a lunch and gathering. Well, I actually asked Igor if I can come to the gathering, since I was in Jakarta that day.
The gathering was in Bogor. I took a bus from Pulo Gadung bus terminal to reach the place. And I used train on the way back.
Initially I thought I will ride the train by myself, but Aga, Peny , Nina, Wiwin and Imam decided to go along. All are my fotografer.net and multiply.com buddy who I never meet physically, so I really grateful that day, we can finally meet and do photo-shot together.
I wish i can do this often.

Posted by yuwono on Jul 2, '08 8:44 AM for everyone | | It was a hot mid-day. After my 3rd visit to Xingguang Photographic Mall, I searched for a cab. All cab drivers refused to take me to Yuyuan Garden. From their sign language, I guess they tried to say that the place are too near for a cab ride. So, I decided to pull out my map and walk instead.
Apparently, I misinterpret their sign language. It took me almost an hour
to reach Yuyuan Garden. But luckily, I found interesting places a long the way. Like an old Mosque called Xiaotaoyuan.
It also called the Xicheng Mosque , is one of the famous mosques in the city. It was established in 1917 and rebuilt in 1925. Later, I realized, that I only visited a part of mosque complex, only dated 1343.
I also found place near Yuyuan Garden, that often people call it 'old quarter' of Shanghai. From here I finally took taxi to Nanjing Road, and once again I explore alleys just beside this modern road that to my surprise still kept in tradisional look. Wet market and lots of street vendors.

Posted by yuwono on Jun 8, '08 12:39 AM for everyone | | I received SMS 3 month ago from a friend. He's in town and asking to meet for a coffee. From him, I got to know this sculpture. He was apparently involved on this commissioned work by National Museum of Singapore, helping the artist, from Indonesia, Titarubi.
"Surrounding David" is an 8.5 meters fiber glass replica of David; covered by a pink "kebaya" as it skin. And the rotunda, center area of museum, it's perfect place for the sculpture.
He offered me to take picture during installation and on opening, unfortunately I couldn't free up my time. Only after a month after opening, I managed to visit museum.
For one who haven't visit museum recently, you still can see her until August 2008.

A small fire by the way, it seems from 2nd floor.. and the fire brigade were able to put off the fire in the short time.

But, you might never know that actually some scientists have investigated the difference between a martini shaken and a martini stirred.
Study said, the preparation of a martini has an influence on their antioxidant capacity. The shaken gin martinis were able to break down hydrogen peroxide and leave only 0.072% of the peroxide behind, versus the stirred gin martini which left behind 0.157% of the peroxide. [taken from Wikipedia]
But this album is not about this stupid Martini preparation. I'm just wondering if I applied enough "shake" to my developer tank. These photos are suppose to be a push development of EI3200 from native ISO400 of Tri-X film. But it turned out "under-develop", lacking shadow detail... Hope, I can get some input from you, guys to improve this.
Developed using D76 1:1 for 16 minutes @ 20degC

(1) My camera is just recently repaired. This is my first film after it had RF mis-alignment problem. I have done some length measurement test, make sure that what range-finder see is tally with the distance marking on the lens. But until I check the real result on photo, I will never sure.
(2) I get use to 40mm focal length. Then, often I complain the 50mm as framing too tight. So, I wish for 35mm. The news for high speed pancake from Voigtlander immediately attracted me. But until I have enough coin in my piggy bank, I only can dream. Luckily, Igor lend me his Color-Skopar 35mm F2.5. I have tried some exposures in another film previously, but I want to get feel on this focal length for the second roll.

Recently, the new extension has been built, with modern architecture, really contrast with its original 13th century architecture.
I took some snap shots while waiting Wellington to arrive at that day.

This market is center of gold and jewelry stores. We went there to buy the first earing for my new born daughter. Although, until now we still have not done an ear piercing for her. We are not sure where and when should we do that.
As traditional as it look, but inside, "Pasar Cikini" has array of more than 30 air conditioned stores which accept cash and credit card payment. And yet, you are still able to find fruit and drink stall outside. It was a busy day for the market despite the soaring of gold price recently.
