Celebrating clear weather and blue sky... me and Wellington went to Singapore Turf Club, right after Singapore Marathon 2007 photo shooting .

I don't know exactly this horse racing work. From what I saw, the horse is displayed in Parade Ring, before race. There are couple of session of racing on 2 type of tracks: Sand and Turf. And the Jockey must be weighted right after the race.

Many big screen and TVs are installed in various place. It displays statistic and numbers... People bet. They went through analysis, calculation that from their expression, it's seemed more complicated than paper work in my office. One thing I know, they are all enjoy with what they are doing...

Some shots taken during one of Clubsnap (AG) outing.
I used Nikon 12-24mm f/4 and tripod to get the shot done. The exposure time range from 10secs to bulb 185secs. To achieve this exposre i used ND8 filter and also CPL filter to emphasize the reflection.
The place is along the river at Clarke Quay, one one famous tourist spot in Singapore.

One day at Tekka Market, Little India, Singapore.
This is my first street photography. Actually I'm not ready yet to take such challenging job. But, when my wife asked me to company her to go this place, I decided to bring my camera along. With wife and kid beside me, somehow, I can take snapshots with ease. I don't know, what will be their reaction when I shot alone.

The market was originally known as Kandang Kerbau (or just KK), Malay for "buffalo pens", referring to the slaughterhouses operating in the area until the 1920s, and the name still lives on in the nearby Kandang Kerbau Women's and Children's Hospital. In Hokkien, the market was known as Tek Kia Kha, literally meaning "foot of the small bamboos", as bamboo plants once grew on the banks of the Rochor Canal. This was adapted into the popular name Tekka Pasar (笛卡巴刹), where pasar is Malay for "market".

Sunset at Siloso Beach, Sentosa Island, Singapore
This second attempt on slow shutter photography took place in Siloso beach, Sentosa Island, Singapore. Actually it is not exactly in Siloso, but I need to walk roughly 150m toward west from the beach, just behind Sentosa Resort.
I was lucky to found a "lonely" cloud during this sunset shots.

Sunset at Labrador Park, Singapore
Inspired by the work of Wellington, my FN Singapore's buddy, I tried this low speed seascape shots. I feel that in order the effect works, the composistion of the picture must be strong.

A lot of master out there that their work based on this kind of technique. Ranging from Michael Kenna, Josef Hoflehner, David Fokos, Rolfe Horn, Michael Levin, etc.

They have many philosophy behind their shots, but bassically, with slow speed, what they want to achieve is to represent the scene in the "fundamental" and "basic" form. Also to remove "noise" which affect our interpretation of nature in high / normal speed pictures.

Whatever.... :) to me... it is a good way to practice my composition on photography.
